Chapter 2

Chapter 2

A Chapter by Cas Novak

Tracking Sam Winchester
"Ugh, where the hell is he?" Searra asked, sighing in frustration. "Why did you ward him from angels?"
"To protect him." I said, simply.
"From you? Yes, because that makes sense." She rolls her eyes.
"From the angels. The apocalypse relied on the Winchesters. So I carved Enochian protection symbols into their ribs.
" I don't even know what to say to that. So now what?" She questioned.
"We find the best hacker I know." I replied.
"Who?" She asked, scrunching her nose.
"Charlie Bradbury.

*****

"Why do you need me? I'm just a hacker." Charlie asked.
"Because, Searra can track him using his credit cards-"
"But I can't find him. He's either using cash or covering his tracks somehow." Searra finished.
"So you new me to-"
"Security cameras." I finished. She sighed, shaking her head.
"Fine. On one condition."
"What is it?"
"Her." She said, pointing to Searra.
"What? Sorry, but you can't have me." She snapped.
"Done." I replied.
"Cas!" She yelped. "Do I not get any say in what happens in my life?"
"No, I'm older and wiser. That means I choose."
"Was-did you-just try to crack a joke?" She asked, incredulous.
"Hello, still here." Charlie waved.
"What do you want with me?" Searra relunctly asked
"Just have dinner with me."
"Fine." She replied, glaring at me. I ignored her.
"So?" I said, looking at Charlie
"Hell yeah."

*****

"There he is." She said, pointing to the screen.
"When was that?" Searra asked, from behind me.
"Uh, looks like- yesterday afternoon."
"Its a place to start. Where?" I asked her
"A Quikstop in Brookfield, Wisconsin."
"Thank you, Charlie." Searra said. They had become good friends over the last couple of days, despite Charlie's obvious interest. Searra elbowed me.
"Oh, yes, thank you Charlie." I said, grabbing Searra hand. She squeezed mine. She hated flying.
"No prob-" I was already gone.

*****

I left her outside the Starlight motel, where Sam was staying.
"Be careful." I told her.
"Yeah."
"I'm serous Searra. I do not need you hurt. I do not want to see you hurt."
"Aww, Angelcakes, you know how to make a girl blush." She said, standing on tiptoe to kiss my cheek. I captured her in a hug.
"Promise me." I demanded. She chuckled.
"I promise." Her voice was muffled by my trenchcoat.
"Good." I let her go. "I'll watch over you."
"Creepy, but cute. See ya around, Angelcakes." She said, opening the door.
