I Wanted To Wait

I Wanted To Wait

A Poem by Carson Kramer

I wanted to wait until
the world stood still
to love you.
I had to wait until
the stars dimmed.
I wanted to wait until seas
turned to deserts.
My love burns still.
I wanted to wait until my
shattered mind could
let you love me
in the dark
and
the night.
I wanted to wait until you kissed me
But my heart could not.
For it stopped the day I saw you
And walked into my life.
You held my gaze.
My relentless gaze.
And this gaze until.
