I Dropped My Shield

I Dropped My Shield

A Poem by Carson Kramer

On that journey
had she felled me.
I let my shield slightly drop in error,
and paid the price.
She seized the opening
and struck with unarming precision.
Her quickness, a thing of beguiling,
surprising wonderment.
My heart pierced, hemorrhaging.
The warmth of my blood cascades
down my chest.
It feels nothing like water.
My blood is thick.
Thick from richness of desire for her.
Thick from lustful longing, unrequited by circumstance.
Thick from a place of secondary placement.
The promises were empty.
Their visions had captured me, nonetheless.
Indeed, this night
I will need a pillow.
A pillow for my plight.
And a place to bleed
on an endless night.

About
You have come to the Nom de Plume, of the writer known as, Nipplegrinder. It was suggested that I would receive a more welcoming response, if I hadn't such a repulsive screen name. (Thank you, Lyn.) .. more..
