I Wish I Could Write

I Wish I Could Write

A Poem by Carson Kramer

I wish I could write that poem
that casts you in the light
that my mind's eye
beholds you.
The poem that shows how
bright your eyes shimmer
in candlelight.
The poem that, beyond your protests,
proves you are so very fetching.
I want to write the poem that reveals
your strength and your vulnerability
and melds them into the stunning
sight that is all of you.
That poem that the Bard once penned,
that dark piece that Poe
wrote on sheepskin.
That lovely, yet harsh lilt of Whitman.
I want to write the poem that leaves some
breathless
The poem that leaves others
tempted
The poem that stirs men's loins
The poem of you.

There are so many lines I fell in love with, Carson. This is poetry that defines why I fell in love with poetry in the first place. Poetry that leaves me breathless.

Humbled, so deeply, Kelly. Thanks.
This is a universal feeling among poets, I'm guessing . . . I also feel that I can never quite achieve that proper spilling of my guts. As for the love poem, so many do sound shallow & contrived, it's really HARD to dig deep & throw it down. But in your poem, revealing your feelings of vulnerability I believe is far more fetching than the most stellar poem. Here you've bared your soul & that's what it's all about, not making your truth sound awe-inspiring. Here you've done the thing poets must do & I love the way this is seemingly modest, but the poem itself belies your modesty (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you so much, Margie. Shucks, I was just tryin' to write about a girl.
Hugs, Carson.
I believe you speak for many writers who have the same feelings for someone. I'm no expert but women want a man to share what he feels so this writing passes for that. I'm sure it is/would be very moving to the one you speak of.

Nice.

About
You have come to the Nom de Plume, of the writer known as, Nipplegrinder. It was suggested that I would receive a more welcoming response, if I hadn't such a repulsive screen name. (Thank you, Lyn.) .. more..
