Just A Little While Longer

Just A Little While Longer

A Poem by Carson Kramer

Wait for the one who shows you his soul.
The one who is both gallant and silly.
The one who opens the door, and walks beside you,
his hand on the small of your back.
Wait for the one who thinks you're a treasure,
not a trophy or prize.
The one who listens, without giving advice.
The one who is genuinely interested in your past,
and encourages a better future.
Wait for the one who wakes you up with a text,
to say you're beautiful, or go get 'em gorgeous.
Wait for the one who can't wait for your call.
The call you make to say that you're tired,
weary, or spent.
Wait for the one who won't turn away when
you show him that side of you that occasionally appears
when you're raw, vulnerable.
The one who isn't afraid to tell you it's going to get worse
before it gets better,
Because he will be there to pick up the pieces
when it goes wrong.
There to rub your back when you need it.
And probably when you don't.
He will stand tall through adversity, real, imagined, or
placed there by you.
His strength will astound you, his tenderness
will bring you to tears.
He is real.
He is a man.
He is a Gentleman.
And he has been waiting for you, too.

Not having all that much experience in the art, I won’t try to comment on “gentlemanliness.”
There, I spelled it. I likes the reasoning, the empathy and general good feeling the poem conveyed, but mostly I liked the flow and rhyme. I’d like to see you spend some time on this one and consider remaking it into an old fashioned rockin’, rhymin’,. pentamerin’, heart squeezer.

I really like it as it stands, for what it says. Just saying the lyrics are great; set it to music.

You had me at "his hand on the small of your back". Wow, tenderness and gallantry. ...it gets me every time.

We Gentlemen, instinctively know how to make a woman feel protected, yet placed on her own pedestal... read more
beautiful just beautiful advice
and if that one doesnt come
then so be it
we should be happier alone than to settle with a creep who doesnt love or respect us

Then, so be it, dear girl. Thank you, darling.
I agree. Real love. Kindness and paying attention to your love. Goes both ways. Thank you Carson for sharing the amazing poetry.

You have come to the Nom de Plume, of the writer known as, Nipplegrinder. It was suggested that I would receive a more welcoming response, if I hadn't such a repulsive screen name. (Thank you, Lyn.) .. more..
