My Lady the Moon

My Lady the Moon

A Poem by Carrie Manor
"

I based it on a previous poem I wrote: " wanting of love, or prayer to the moon" however, I've tried in a more modern style. (:

"

My lady the moon, how you flaunt your godhead!

Resting your chin upon a cloud, gazing upon your servants below.

You hypnotize me, with a weary gaze.

You are merry, with all your shining children around and about you.

My Lady the moon, why am I so sad?

Your husband, the gallant wind.

Is he the gentle sandman?

Who brings sleep about my eyes?

My Lady, your halo of white.

I come to you in mourning,

relinquishing my soul out to you!

May you grant me a love?

See how veils of clouds cover you?

Do you betray me? Abandon me?

Have you any pity?

Laying in a bed of clouds so chaste an white

 your mystic castle.

Do not forget me, all men and ladies,

who prayer and fast. Eternally lying in a bed of breathing death, those that float

upon Styx the river that our souls sleep adrift.

You appear before oceans that gone a waste.

And those trees of green, and the darkest shade of black.

Appear before the desert,

to see the merciless queen of pitiless heat.

To your evergreens, you so well endear.

The furthest peak of Earth, you make your castle,

for there it seems you rest forever,

til months passes,

and your forsaken godhead returns.
