Daydream by the Sea

Daydream by the Sea

A Poem by Carrie Manor

Who can say?

What if true love does exist

in the medial of her bosom?

Is this smile,

she feels crawling across her visage

just a folly,

whence she sees him passing by?

She sits by the clement sea,

many a’time a day.

And watches the ferries all pass down and by.

And watches the sails unfurl before the wind.

Some days he sits, and joins her company.

When he looks upon her,

with those placid, light blue eyes,

and smiles,

with teeth of lustrous white,

she sighs.

The sky before her is his eyes.

The supple white clouds are those teeth.

The ships and boats?

They are she and he.

She watches,

though it be just another daydream.

A wish, that he would carry,

her, across the sea.

Upon the rippling waves...

Thence she sadly sighs,

Inspired by Debussy's La fille aux cheveux de lin. I's a very beautiful piece, one can listen to it on this website:
