The Ballad of the Angel in LoveA Poem by Carrie ManorThis is a sketch for a larger poem I wanted to write about a mortal falling in love with an angel butMake me, thy guardian angel. Under my wings shall be thy dwelling place. Thou shalt dry thy tears upon my shoulder, and whisper thy sorrows into my ear. My breast shalt be thou pillow. Gentle harmony, you and I. Into ecstasy of nature and heavens, the law of angels; in love, we shall abide. Thou shall have my happiness, and it shall belong to thee. I will drink thy tears, shed them into my open hand.. Caress thy visage, till every tear is well and dry. Thy sins belong to me, and I shall repent. Thy shalt not ruin, and pain shalt not graze thee. And thou shall lay by a gentle, trickling stream. For I shall carry thy soul, before all rivers, before all mountains, before all seas. I shall watch ‘oer my love, until thee awakens, caress thee so tenderly, and lift thy soul into the clouds. © 2011 Carrie Manor |
