Fall Death

Fall Death

A Poem by Carrie Manor

Upon a crisp fall day,

whence the sky casted somber and grey.

I teetered through an un-treaded path.

Crunching leaves,

solitarily I walked alone.

The wind but a ghost.

Whispering sounds vague.

I espied across a stone,

marker, somber, solemn graveyard.

Brushing leaves away.

to see what I may find,

I found but myself,

though felt I quite alive.

The leaves fell through me,

the wind howling,

seemed like a mockery.

Death creeped quiet,

I could not hear the rustle of her step.

Gentle and kind.

A touch upon the shoulder,

she welcomed me through.

And all at once the sky came blue.

Cleared way all the leaves..

Thence winter came.

I looked at the sky,

all the trees became bare.

A snowflake kissed my cheek,

I looked upon the marker,

and death outreached her warm hand.....
