Yorker Girl

I found the park bench, is my new home.

Then, all these girls pass my way.

I’m always puttin’ up a fight.

Oh, no. Not on Saturday nights.

I gotta wait for you, my watch is broken.

Will you ever find your way home to me?

You’ll come home Monday night.

Don’t steal my words.

Come back to me!

My little Yorker Girl,

the neon lights are flashin’

bottles are tippin.

I can picture you,

movin’ on the tabletops.

One after another.

Make up running off your face.

Screaming at the DJ.

I’m tired of TV every Saturday.

Why can’t I shake it down,

with someone who knows?

Take flight into the city streets.

Never know when your comin’

No, I wait up all night.

All the girls whisper to me:

“ Oh, Louis.”

Now, you know I can’t think straight.

“ Why can’t you come out and play tonight?”

All my insecurities.

Nighttime is to dark for me.

I’m tired of your name.

My little Yorker Girl,

the neon lights are flashin’

bottles are tippin.

I can picture you,

movin’ on the tabletops.

One after another.

Make up running off your face.

Haven’t you ever fallen in love?

Just once,

let me know.

My Yorker Girl.

I gave you your first taste of blood.

Clothes, names you never knew.

A car painted in gold.

When you cried,

I walked away.

It’s all me, I got a Yorker Girl.

Yorker Girl,

Yorker Girl,

just another Yorker Girl:

neon lights are flashin’

bottles are tippin.

I can picture you,

movin’ on the tabletops.

One after another.

Make up running off your face.

Haven’t you ever fallen in love?

Let me know,

just let me know.

All my insecurities.
