Blue Bird

Blue Bird

A Poem by Carrie Ann G

long after that ache

in my heart abates

away the blue bird

flies its song reminds

me of the one now

lost in the heavens

Carrie Ann G
I wrote this not too long after my Dad's passing. I wasn't just thinking about him but of all the loved ones that have gone on including my first husband and an unborn child.

Memories are very precious; so much so, that I truly believe that without memory there would be less future.

Sometimes, when I feel a little lost I read some of my grandma's poetry. Always it takes me back to the times when my sister and I were children and spent the weekends with her. She would read to us, talk to us, tell us about her mother and father and of her own childhood memories; and though she has been gone now for almost two decades, I can still picture those moments so very vividly.

Thank you for this poem.

Beccy.

I can identify with this piece as well. Within my own family some passed on. The bluebird is one of the prettiest birds and it's nice to use it for your poem. I am rather new at writing so this short little sonnet inspires me that few words can be just perfect. Bless you!
