I wrote this poem several years ago. I have Retinitis Pigmentosa which means I am slowly going blind. I was going through one of the many difficult times when I wrote this.

Carrie Ann G,
"Darkness" I hardly know what to say. Others reality is sometimes so difficult to imagine. I am glad you shared this. It makes my vision of others and their lives and stories even more precious. You have reminded me to continue to be open to others needs and difficulties. Bless your voice in this world....................Kathy
Visceral and personal, those two traits ring out the loudest from this piece. Both the opening and closing lines are powerfully penned. Relatable as this can be taken in differing ways and describes how many of us have felt at one point in time. No matter how dark it may seem, there is always a glimmer of hope. Thank you for sharing this.
Such a relatable piece. Many people struggle with finding that light at the end of the tunnel as we all seem to be wandering endlessly through the darkness. Dreams seem far, and the end seems farther. Wonderful poem!
A touching portrayal of your journey facing an unknown future, where you cannot dream because you simply don't know whether fulfilling those dreams is possible. The depressing reality of going slowly blind can rob one of their spiritual will to endure. And yet, here you are, writing and sharing your journey. I'm glad you're here, and using your voice poetically.
