A lifetime to Love You

A lifetime to Love You

A Poem by Carolyn Falls
"

I love you

"
If you were here, I would whisper, "I love you."
In the cool of the morning air, I would wrap my arms around you.

If you were here, I would tell you, "I've missed you."
If you were here, I would press my lips to yours.

If you were here, I would ask you to share this day with me.
A day just for us.
A day to cry and forgive.
A day to laugh and love.
If you were here, I would scream, "I love you."
If you were here, I would ask you to marry me.

In one moment, I could say these words.
In one day, I could show you passion and desire.
But it would take a lifetime to love you.
