The Devil

The Devil

A Poem by Caroline Grimm

I met the devil when i was only a child
which i didn't know until things got wild
I learned to call it my mother
With anger she would smother
her horns only appeared to me as a teen
and it wasn't on halloween
it was everyday
without delay
i was scared
but my vision was impared
i thought anger was love
till it gave me more than a shove
I fell hard into reality
where i couldn't flee
because there was nowhere else to be
because who would want me
afterall i was the daughter of the devil
where no one would ever be on the same level
