I Dream a Dream

I Dream a Dream

A Poem by Carolann Dowsett

I dream a dream
of beauty Divine
Of love without boundaries
that exists beyond time

I dream of a love
that penetrates my soul
That breaks apart walls
and restores me whole

I dream of passion
of kisses so sweet
Of long summer days
and love's gentle heat

I dream of you
my lover, my friend
The one I'll adore
until time's final end

But I dream in the silence
in the shadows of life
In the safety I hide
for love cuts like a knife

The last stanza gives me the impression of experience. The narrator seems like a bright and succulent fruit that was once dropped from its tree...Not completely ruined, but still bruised nonetheless. The "safety" in the shadows reminds me of a crutch or band-aid that the narrator has applied for the time being. A lovely write this is.

This poem touches the heart. I read it several times because it brought out images and memories of love and lost love in my own life. The rhyme and meter of the poem was perfect as well. If flows.

Honest and true words dear Friend.
"But I dream in the silence

Life is a two-sided blade. Make us dance with joy or cry in the lonely rain. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

You are welcome my friend.
There's a distinct rhythmic sadness in your poem, that makes me feel that a little hope is popping its nose from hidden corners, maybe missing what's been so wonderful, might re-mould what you fear might happen into a very loud, 'But This Time, No Way!'.

Tis good to see you back again.. :)

Are you back or just pretending!!! Come back p;ease.. we can compare hair colour and length!
as bryan adams sang...yes, "cut's like a knife, but it feels so right"--

and it feels sometimes like that really true love won't come until the next life....not in this one.
