I Dream a Dream

I Dream a Dream

A Poem by Carolann Dowsett

I dream a dream
of beauty Divine
Of love without boundaries
that exists beyond time

I dream of a love
that penetrates my soul
That breaks apart walls
and restores me whole

I dream of passion
of kisses so sweet
Of long summer days
and love's gentle heat

I dream of you
my lover, my friend
The one I'll adore
until time's final end

But I dream in the silence
in the shadows of life
In the safety I hide
for love cuts like a knife

The last stanza gives me the impression of experience. The narrator seems like a bright and succulent fruit that was once dropped from its tree...Not completely ruined, but still bruised nonetheless. The "safety" in the shadows reminds me of a crutch or band-aid that the narrator has applied for the time being. A lovely write this is.

Wow you were so awesome throughout the lines but the suspense at the end lol. Don't worry not every love story has a knife in the end.

Welcome friend :)
Wow, that's a powerful piece, you feel its one type of poem, and then the final stanza shows you what the poems really about. Great job.

Thanks I appreciate that :)
¡Mag-ní-fi-co! Wow! If you don't mind my saying, "penetrates" makes its line the slightest tad of a mouthful. A disyllabic synonym would actually make the musicality flow much better and be in accordance with the respective musicalities of the other second lines. This is otherwise fantastic on many levels! Well done!

Dear Carolann, back again, I am.
There exists a love more akin to a spoon for eating ice-cream for scooping you up and savouring you. No less exciting but gentler.
I liked the rhythm and flow from verse to verse. Do not hide your light forever.
