ColdA Poem by Carolann Dowsett
It's so cold
yet I can hear the sound of the waves and they soothe my soul Loneliness consumes me yet there are no tears I don't allow myself to cry anymore I am a child of the light yet darkness surrounds me Suffocates me in its heartless embrace I long to be free yet my desire traps me Holds me captive in a world of unfulfilled dreams and pointless longings When I am no more my name will be nothing but a forgotten memory on the lips of a few who dared to care The world will turn until the day of its demise Just as my flesh will age until the day I die Until I am but a speck in the eye of creation A collection of atoms and molecules flying through time and space To a destination that is known by God alone I want to fly away now but gravity viciously holds me down Refuses to release me to set me free So here I remain trapped by despair Crying on the inside Invisible tears Playing tag with the stars while I wait out the years © 2014 Carolann DowsettFeatured Review
