Love and Pain

Love and Pain

A Poem by Carolann Dowsett

What do you do when

love and pain

become interwoven

in a deadly game

When words get spoken
hearts are broken
and dreams get washed away
in the pouring rain

I allowed my heart to love
now my tears are a flood
For a moment in time
hope and joy
played tag with my mind
But now I sit in confusion
feel like I'm losing

Lost in the midst of chaos
where nothing makes sense
and no one seems real
Why did I feel
Why did I try
I should have stayed hiding
away from the eyes
of those who can hurt
with words full of curse

I like this as usual with your work. I think that sometimes we go through things we think we should have control over but we don't, and if we manage to pray for and own the strength to make it we can come out better off, and in the event help others grow as we do ourselves. Sometimes we don't understand completely the things that happen until a long time afterward. I know this is the case with me.
Your work really does inspire me. Thank you so much for sharing with me.

Wow thanks so much and yes I agree with you.
A powerful poem. When love and pain are one. Only a dead-end road is the destine journey. The good description brought to life the pain and chaos in the poem. I like the ending. Would be nice to be able to hide from the pain and the curse. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

' .. Lost in the midst of chaos ~ where nothing makes sense ~ and no one seems real ~ Why did I feel .. .. '

Firstly a (Carolann) because sometimes we all need a hug.

And secondly, thoughts: guess we have choices in life. We either live in cells and avoid any emotions for another being, or we go through the tenuous steps of finding a special someone, someone to be loved, trusted, given to, received from, Dear lord, the hurt that goes with the search is as painful as you so sadly describe above, but.. but .. but.. when it happens space is a living, dancing kingdom!

Nice rhyming! Though, the ending seemed kind of abrupt. Like it's not a finished piece. I feel like you could add so much more to this. It's a great poem already, but I think adding more, or rewording the ending would make it marvelous-er!
But that's just my opinion, and it's totally your decision! :)

Thanks Miranda I'll take another look at it.
I can't even say I relate to this because I think you just explained the reasons behind my writings more so than I ever could. This piece was really good, such simple words but it conveyed such a strong message. I really enjoyed it!!!

Thank you so much.
Love and pain are two sides of the same coin. Your words and images are fraught with emotion and imagery.

Thank you.
"Lost in the mist of chaos" I believe you meant for 'mist' to be 'midst', but I could be wrong. I loved this piece carolann and the pain woven into each word. I know love can sometimes be a long and painful journey, but someday it will find you!

You're welcome.
You pull the dagger out of your heart, you suture the wound, you let it heal, it forms into scar tissue and you move on but the scar goes with you
