The Edge of EternityA Poem by Carolann DowsettI sit on the edge of eternity encapsulated in a cocoon of light Waiting for creation to breathe its last breath for forever to come I wait patiently Suspended somewhere between time and space Teetering on the edge of life and death I peer over the edge of an immeasurable void full of mystery and wonder full of secret things forbidden from the eyes of man I sit on the edge of eternity waiting for the end to come waiting for the light of God to shine down upon my soul and free me from life’s deadly hold I wait for the creation of a brand new world Where suffering and pain are no more Where the lion will peacefully lie down with the lamb and love will reign in the hearts of all
On the edge of eternity I sit and stare across a boundless universe where even the stars hold their breath in silent wonder of all which is to come A glimpse of heaven fills my mind and I become lost in its Glory in its infinite joy I reach out to touch it but then it is gone like a mirage in a barren land mystery’s promise slipping once again through my hands
