Words Burn

Your words burn a hole in my soul

trace a pathway of destruction

through the fibres of my being

 

Each word a bullet

set on its path of destruction

Aimed for the kill

they pierce my heart

tear into my flesh

leave me wounded and ill

 

You are a ghost rider

sailing on the stormy seas

of my emotions

Out to destroy

you strive to crush the spirit of life

that is within me

 

War rages within me
as I fight your vicious attacks

with every trick I know

With every beat of my heart

I resist you

with every breath I take

I move closer to victory

to escaping from the fiery darts

that fly from your mouth

with such precision and ease

 

Soon I will be free from you

from your words that sting

from your mouth that drips poison

as you smile your reapers grin

 

I will escape from your words of death

they will hit their mark no more

I wash my hands of you completely

you are rotten to the core

Gosh this was intense, reminds me of a relationship that has deteriorated to the point where they know where we are most sensitive and exploit us in that manner! Partly pushing us away, partly to spite us from their perceived shame and hurt. Correct me if I am wrong?

The lips of mongers and destroyers should be sealed with the kiss of death. Reacting in vicious unkind words are the results of the insecure and damaged heart striking to enact revenge without thought, the results not the desired effect. :)

Emotional and verbal abuse can be even more destructive than the physical. It is the difficult situation indeed, when someone is stuck in this type of situation and lose sight of how wonderful and unique they are. An awful situation, well written!
