Love

why so elusive and hard to attain

why must we search

for that we will never find

 

Like islands we sit alone

lost

shipwrecked on stormy seas

looking for that which can never be

 

I could drown in love but it avoids me

like a mystery

it walks away whenever I feel it coming near

disappears before I can claim it as my own

 

I will walk in the mists

of loneliness forever

a lost soul drifting

between worlds

 

Hopeless and without love

I will disappear

become just a whisper in the hearts

of all I have briefly touched

then just float away forever

to be remembered

as a moment in time

a thought

a vision

a fantasy

a dream

never again to be physically seen

now, i wonder why you sent this poem to me...you know i am all about romance poetry! this is exquisite verse and tells a tale i am all too familiar with and have written about so many times ...but you express this in ways i had not considered, beautifully, i must say. one small typo here, my dear....elusive is the word you were looking for in the second line....i love this write!!!!!

never again to be physically seen" so beautiful that people could fall in love with you just by reading this poem.
I believe love works like a person drifting through the sea's, reaching different destinations and islands, experiencing harsh and beautiful things but eventually making one place home. Love is home, and someday you'll be someones home and they'll be yours. Beautiful write Carolann, really beautiful and at the same time heart aching imagery. Because what you speak of is the truth and it speaks for so many people. I know I can relate with this, loneliness is my best friend, my companion but hopefully not my end.

beautiful, absolutly beautiful!, love is very hard to get, and sometimes you just feel like yu can't look any more, i loved you poem, and the despair in it, but cheer up, for one day love will find it's way to your heart :)
