Love

why so elusive and hard to attain

why must we search

for that we will never find

 

Like islands we sit alone

lost

shipwrecked on stormy seas

looking for that which can never be

 

I could drown in love but it avoids me

like a mystery

it walks away whenever I feel it coming near

disappears before I can claim it as my own

 

I will walk in the mists

of loneliness forever

a lost soul drifting

between worlds

 

Hopeless and without love

I will disappear

become just a whisper in the hearts

of all I have briefly touched

then just float away forever

to be remembered

as a moment in time

a thought

a vision

a fantasy

a dream

never again to be physically seen

now, i wonder why you sent this poem to me...you know i am all about romance poetry! this is exquisite verse and tells a tale i am all too familiar with and have written about so many times ...but you express this in ways i had not considered, beautifully, i must say. one small typo here, my dear....elusive is the word you were looking for in the second line....i love this write!!!!!

Wow! This is really nice! Portraying love in many forms. At first you associate it with water, awesome metaphor. It drowns us and leads us astray. That was really awesome, I know personally the feeling of being in the water and feeling like nothing around you exist which is the same for love.

I liked the way you show love as a journey to find something that doesn't want to be found, as if whenever you think you found it, its not what it was cracked up to be.

Lastly, I was amazed by the epicness of the last stanza, when you say that you will disappear and become just a whisper in your ex's hearts well thats if I understood correctly. Anyways great poem! Like always xD

The sadness and desire in this piece are overwhelming. "Hopeless and without love," no one should have to live (or die) like this. "Become just a whisper in the hearts, of all I have breify touched, then just float away forever." This is beautiful, very lovely. This poem makes me sad just thinking of the how this person (described) must really feel inside, alone, desolate, unloved...sad , very sad but very well written.

This is such a brutishly cruel fate. To be a dissipating whisper is to almost feel that you didn't exist at all. However, love can be found in unexpected places and that whisper could become a roar. A great poem on the struggles of being human and vulnerable. This poem broke my heart.

Love need two people on the same road with the same desire. Took me 36 years to find my poor wife. I like the desire and the emotion in the poem. Love can drive us crazy. When I was young. I chased the desire of love. Only got little in return. When I gave up. Love came to me. I learn desperate people in a hurry scare people. Slow and easy allowed love to grow and walls of fear to slowly fall down. Thank you for the excellent poem. You made me think tonight.
