I want to be wrapped up
 
in the arms of love

Lost

in an eternal dream
 
of endless bliss
Sheltered


from the raging storms of life



in the strong arms


of a loving man



 

I want to be swept away


on a sea of content



Afloat

on an ocean of joy



Engulfed

in the sweet delight

of a lover’s touch



 

I want to be caressed

by the warmth of desire



Kissed

with the raging fire of a passion

burning out of control



 

But love lies dormant

within me



A silent dream

that never ends



 

Encased

in a single tear

shed a lifetime ago



It waits eagerly

for the moment of sweet release



For the light of true love

to set it free


For the one

who will come

and awaken
 me

I love this poem ... I love the imagery and the attention to the detail of the language. I find one little thing that bothers me though ... In the lines ...

But love lies dormant
within me

... which happen to be some of my very favorite lines, you tell us that Love lies dormant with in you .... and then that it was encased in a tear that has long since been shed. I find myself a smidge confused. What it that tear were were to be forever hanging on the brink ... threatening to fall? Yes?? No ??

Either way it's a small thing ... I STILL love this poem.

It conjures in a person the images of a black and white movie from the 60's. The one that paints the story of a man who goes back to another lifetime to be with the girl he loved and realizes that she left a message for him in a drawer of the house that he continues to live in today.

It persuades us that love is eternal.

I think this is a good description of finding the one true love. You show us that person has the ability to awaken that special quality in you. I think a lot of people talk about it, but it is often beyond words for them. You give us a good description. The last stanza is my favorite, and I like how you change your lines lengths. Those short lines set up your main phrases very well.
