Shattered Dreams

Shattered Dreams

A Poem by Carolann Dowsett

I watch my life

through a window of broken glass

As fragments of my heart

are carried away

on a careless breeze

destined for worlds

unseen

I wait for eternity

but it refuses to come

Stardust fills my eyes

forming tears that sparkle

in the light of the moon

as they forge pathways of grief

across a face etched in pain

Despair comes

an unholy visitor of the night

Entwining itself

through every fibre of my being

Strangling the life

out of my veins

until nothing remains

Just the darkness

of shattered dreams

Forever lost

memories

of what could have been

It still may be, tonight you will dream again
and when you dream it will be full and
voluptuous, teeming with life and passion.
I love your poem, but you need to realize
that when one dream ends, another begins.
That is how life is and your dreams mimic
your reality.

You exhibit a phenominal gift for writing ,
romance, adventure and mysticism.
I look forward to reading more of you.
