This piece was emailed to me & I thought it would have some meaning for everyone, and so wanted to share it 🙂
The thoughtful author who wrote this is unknown.
May well be unfortunate, however, nonetheless true.
When I saw the sum in numbers, it almost immediately clicked what the piece was on about.
I'd say, if this was ever written into a story of some kind, it'd be awesome!
That said, if not directly addressing or stating it, this one touches slightly, on an important phenomenon: the desensitized and complacent state of humans all 'round the globe... Well, maybe not literally all around.
The idea is, if you see a person obstructing your way because they are injured or something like that, it's more likely that will leave some irritated remark while simply going around them than it is that you'd help them... I've seen idiots who actually laughed at an older fellow in need and simply left..
On the side of all this desensitization, there is the added magic of complacency which is even more widespread..
'oh, nothing bad ever happens in my street.'
'nothing bad ever happens to my family, it's always strangers..' until one day, those sirens are singing their tritones for you or a family member.
It's good, to take a step back every now and again, to really consider your life thus far. Cheers.
Such a great lesson. We've heard that the best things in life are free, and this confirms it. When I look back at my life, a regret that always arises is how much time I wasted. Thanks for this, Carola.
