Dear Carola, an intelligent and thoughtful piece of writing. Each one of us is responsible for our own happiness and it can be found in the smallest of things, if only we took the time to find it. Yes, it lies inside each one of us and the sad thing is that many don't understand that. I very much enjoyed this piece. Thank you.

It is so easy to get stuck in our own evolution... the temptation to stay fixed is such a strong one for us:( My experience with death was such a strong example of this for me. When I had to relearn everything (and that includes finding my writing voice again) I was overwhelmed with all of the sudden changes I experienced my first reaction was to just hide and give up! A 53-year-old man doesn't want to have to ask for help walking to the bathroom or how to tie his shoes LOL. But in this experience, I had no choice but to let my ego go and somehow I managed to find happiness again:) Such a poignant penning for me dear Carola so I exit this review with a big smile

This piece certainly made me reflect as it leads with such a positive note and cleverly takes the reader through a process of thinking about how we react to lifes ups and downs.

Wise words, my friend. Although there's been a lot of unhappiness in my life, I've always found little rays of sunshine here and there. Something that really bothers me is when I see someone who spirals downward and doesn't even try to rescue themselves. I wonder if all survivors are happy.

i think some people just don't want to help themselves, they get more sympathy & help by playing the victim.
of course there are those people who really haven't a clue what to do, they've probably always been helped since the cradle, or they're not real smart.
have a good weekend.

How very optimistic! Happiness is not dependent on circumstance. It is a choice. I am a firm believer in counting my blessings, not cursing what I lack. You express this well here!

Good advice Carola! Not always easy to feel happy when things go wrong, but we can usually deal with our problems if we apply ourselves. We can't change the world, but we can change our outlook! A good, upbeat poem!

yes so many people don't realise where true happiness resides & expect others to make them happy. so they become miserable when that person changes, leaves, dies or becomes ill & their role becomes one of caretaker.
