How wonderfully descriptive. I'm an avid watcher of birds myself; loading the feeders every day to see who'll come to visit. The blue jays love the peanuts I put out for the squirrels so they will leave some sunflower seeds for the cardinals and finches. We get pigeons and doves and woodpeckers too occasionally. I enjoyed reading your poem.

I liked the descriptions, yes, but I think... The best part here is the wandering imagination. What if one was to be born as a bird, in a new life.
Hmph, flying is a 'dream' of most every kid in the world, and even some 'adults'..
I wonder sometimes, what it'd be like to be a cloud...
Just going around the world, changing shapes and having a clear view of the great 'beyond' and also at the world below.
Well put together, fun to read.
Cheers

true dat young lady! :) forms are not easy for me either
This is just beautiful! I could envision the birds as they "gobbled" the feast you provided. I too have bird feeders in the back yard and love to watch the different birds that come to dine. We have chickadees, robins, blue birds, woodpeckers and many others throughout the day. I thank God for them! ~Sharon

Birds do not "trust" easily... to be persuaded is to quietly leave Seed and berries to soothe their feathers and relax in the shade of Holly trees with red berries as a symbol of Benevolence. Your poetry has struck a Chord that was in a lost Symphony. tenderly, Pat

In the United States we had loads of birds and this is what I miss here in Spain!!
I love hummingbirds...glorious colors and lovely fluttering wings..
There is a whole, probably world wide idea that birds are free..and happy.. wonder if that is true...
are they hungry, are they warm..
As a child I wanted so to find nests... not easy in Hollywood, California..
I suppose that birds represent the loveliness of nature...
Your poem was so delightful..I read it twice!
First time I have read anything of yours..I will be back,
Lisa, now in Spain..(also in my 70's) and, I always respond to reviews.. this is important

everything in life has a price, even freedom, as I so wrote in my last line.
wild pigeons mostly don't make it much past 4 years of age before something happens, disease, 4-legged predators or winged predators, hit by cars, nasty humans trapping them etc.

I love birds too and spend time watching them in my garden. I also make sure I feed them in the winter months. When I read your line Carola, I thought of the freedom that birds have. Oh, to be able to take off in flight. I imagine there are many people all the world over who would just like to do that in these troubled times. A lovely write about our feathered friends Carola. Good to see a post from you.

and those birds love you for that...
It would be interesting to come back as a bird if there is reincarnation.
Would we be fed? I would imagine we would if we have fed others.
In the end...how we lived our lives will come back to us.
Will we be invited into the nest?
Will we be shown kindness?
that remains to be seen.
So nice to read a really pleasant poem that brings a smile.

thanks for your kind review.
if it wasn't for the constant life-frights that birds experience i would love to be reincarnated as a bird for some free flying (i guess no surprise there being an ex pilot)
if it's not a goshawk that gets you, the crows at my place actually kill more pigeons than they do. as well there are some nasty humans out there. in springtime i often see pigeons with remnants of string that restrains both feet. usually i can catch them 'cos their tied feet makes their take-off a bit slower, sometimes the string has become embedded into their skin so i have to take them to the vet to anaesthetize them to get it off.
i hope you're right in saying how we lived our lives comes back, & those nasty humans experience retribution karma.
