i wrote this about 2 years ago intending to edit it, but I never got around to doing so.
feel free to make critique comments, I may not necessarily make any changes, but they are welcome to learn from.

We ought to strive to be a blessing to others through our lives more than speak blessings with our lips. The later is commendable but the former is laudable. I enjoyed your poem. I'm very interested in the various perspectives proffered within it. I don't think God is as distant as the poem might place. But I do believe that if mankind cannot learn to find the Creator in each other and to treasure this world and the creation as a Holy work, then it is doubtless they shall never know anything of true blessing.

yes, I agree to being a blessing to others, that's not always easy, & does one limit this only to people they like & exclude those they don't like, is the question.

I don't have that conundrum as I don't know of anyone I don't like. Love with conditions isn't love. That's better defined as a "trade" and according to Ezekiel 28 in the Bible it's what Lucifer was thrown out of heaven for, trading favors. But I believe as Shakespeare said in his sonnet, "Love is not love which alters when it, alteration, finds." Bless, F.

this needs no editing, this was composed in the moment to be shared just as is, much like the testaments, written to be shared as is. the one thing I learned in life is if you always and only pray for strength your prayers will be answered. we all need introspective moments daily to be ready for the next day but we get overloaded with life but that is exactly why we need to take the time to do it, maybe then we would treat ourselves and others better, it's a start, a way to get us closer to the Lord. thought provoking piece. well done!

Just as you show in your poem, my daily life is filled with blessings & my going around giving thanks for all of them. I hope you are still coming by the cafe . . . Self-examination if it is truthful is no easy thing.
We can be so afraid to look deeply into ourselves. But if we do, accept, repent as we can, and move on with a relatively clean slate, we can feel pretty proud of our lives at the end.

i totally agree with your comments. we're afraid to look 'cos we don't like to admit our faults.
we should at least be able to accept our faults if we find it too difficult to change. 😔
