Are you happy with what genetics gave you, Or constantly looking at others genetical luck. In your youth - abundant make-up did you pursue ?
Celebrity faces frequently leave you awestruck.
🙎
Your detailed scrutiny of our family's faces,
Of their eyes, their nose, mouth or ears. Shows a fascinating array of familial traces, That may please, or establish your private fears. 🙎🏻 Having smallish, squinty, or droopy eyes, Or a shape of nose that’s a bit unflattering. And a mouth design that won’t win a prize, Or elephant sized ears that get folks a bantering. 🙎🏼 Ha ha!! Happily for you in these modern day years, Your fears can now vanish with cosmetic surgery. No more folk making silly taunts leaving you in tears, Go now, parade your new face with confidence and dignity. 🙎🏽
Remember though, beauty still fades with ageing years, Find other interests, to distract your aesthetic obsession. Become a person of activity, passion, delight, and cheers, ‘Cos wrinkles and age lines are a chronological succession. ❤️
Don’t pursue beauty -- your happiness comes solely from within !!
Well done Carola. A jaunty little write here which was fun to read, but also carries a message. Some of those cosmetic jobs are horrendous aren't they? I have to say you need guts to even contemplate it. I'm aging gracefully she says. Well what I mean by that is I am letting nature take its course. Good poem. Flows really well and is topical.

Agree with all you have said here Carola. Many thanks.
Plastic surgeons must love the public, like vultures in waiting.
You get something done, then you get more, and before long you are one of the fully-fledged out of pocket plastic people.
As one who hasn't worn makeup, bra, or socks in decades, I enjoy how you poke fun in an easygoing way at those who are overly-concerned about appearances. I've seen this topic written about, but never with the familial ties you mention. This gives me the idea you are saying: do you really mean to reject your family? All in all, I'm blessed with good genes & few wrinkles (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
i am more than content with my genetics...although not sure i want to live into my 90's as my parents did.
Not sure i am going to like this world much in twenty years...it is scary.

This is some very wise advice! I can see why someone with a serious issue might have a need for cosmetic surgery, but most do it out of vanity, I think. Yes, beauty on the outside will always fade, but perhaps not so with inward beauty.

Should I have smiled way through your poem, Carola! Thought back about my teens, how nothing of mine was right but was told by one of my older logical sisters that I was stuck with the Me.. live with it! But there again, the view we display is so often influenced by media or peer pressure.. what is normal, natural and God or Nature given is not longer good enough for many. Just read again, what a clever witty writer you are and as such have added those emojis and made your post as bright as a new set of make.up!!

Very nice poem. I wish I had photos of my family, but I don't. I am also starting to forget what my father's face looks like and my sister's.

re your family photos...
-- have you asked any of your extended family (ie. uncles, aunts, cousins) if by chance they have some old photos somewhere ?
-- or if you know the name & location of the school /college /university they attended, they usually do 'end of year' group photos, you could try writing to them & ask.
-- or did any of your family belong to a club / association of some type, try writing to them. they may have club newsletters that may have had some photos in them.
-- search newspapers if they had birthday photos in the 'personal' columns.
it's worth a try, but you'll have to do a bit of research.
