It is fine, makes sense and reads well. Birthdays, never been one to celebrate getting older. My wife however, well, that's a different kettle of fish. She has been celebrating her 50th for the last 6 months and this will culminate in a girlie weekend for 8 to Barcelona this coming Friday.

I will be 63 in a couple days & my b-day be overlooked becuz I just don't do b-days for myself or others. It's one of those things that's slipped off my radar, so I've slipped off the radar of others, understandably. I get the underlying message that maybe you think sending a card takes more forethought & planning, rather than an email or FB blip. But I've found that each person prefers a different medium, that's what they're comfortable using, & it doesn't mean anything is lacking in their b-day wishes. I like the way you use a ton of detailed imagery to show all the different symbols & what these mean for you, in celebrating a b-day! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

yes you're correct in observing that i think cards require more forethought!
i'd rather get a card, 'cos it's something you can keep & re-look at anytime, even when sitting on the loo!!

My sister cannot remember my birthday > Nor does she send one at Christmas
My family > wife and son send . well they dont send it - they just fill in the details and leave it on my chair
We make them for my son using (last one) a selection of our aircraft pictures (those he has flown in )

yes i like making cards on my computer & then sometimes i embellish them by glueing on images, glitter, stars or including a page of jokes i've found on the internet.

oh what a sad closing ... with a touch of cynicism to boot ;) i love your poem! cards are good .. no matter the vehicle used to send them .. i have never been very good at remembering birthdays and other than 16 (able to drive) and 18 (can legally drink) i have not paid much attention to me own ... at my age each day is more than a blessing to wake up to ... and i think we are re-born each day as well ... each of us ... nothing at all remains the same ... except maybe our penchant for mischievous shenanigans :))))))))))))))))))))) reading your poem gives me a sense i am talking with an old friend

A wonderful poem. I don't do more birthday parties. I had sixty. What I do now. a field trip with the grandchildren to one of the great lakes. I enjoyed your words and your thoughts Carola.

Read this three times because i can't decide if (1) it's you smiling, (2) it's you being a touch or two sardonic or (3) it's you seeing only half empty glasses of bubbly and that's it!
As far as i'm concerned, birthdays are an excuse to be spoiled even a teeny bit by folk who know your middle name is Reciprocation. As to being nearer the coffin... bearing in mind what so many have to suffer these days, waking up and hearing the birds sing is a blessing for the rest of us.
Enjoy your stay in the Cafe.. fun and interesting times are ahead, promise you.

never really been an enthusiastic celebrater (is there such a word?) of birthdays. it always seemed so hollow, a show of being important on that one day, what about the other 364 days.
