A Lone Warrior

A Lone Warrior

A Poem by Carol Phelan Aebby

                 "A Lone Warrior"

In thoughtful solitude I am with heart steady,

Armor ready ー as my soul deeply breathes ー

In the atmosphere of courage and sighs...

A nightingale's trying to pull me up:

"Come fly with me", she keeps singing on,

"Leave this human misery." My soul answers,

It's not wise, for many depend on me!

How many more battles do I must face

In life times of blood spill, disgrace and hate?

Oh, Mother Poet, rhyme me with a poem

Whose verses sing Love in stanzas of wonders!

Cherry blossoms shower my reverie

With apologies of scented sweet pleas...

Fuji San hides his noble face behind clouds

Of colorful sunset... as my soul bows

In gratitude for the beauty he beholds;

And the love Japan has bestowed on me.

This country flows through my blood... gently now

With titanic currents of grace in my heart,

As I march forth with courage and wisdom

To announce that only Love is a winner!

Amazing poetry dear Carol. Places, people and locations make us see the world with better visions. The more we travel and communicate. The better understanding of our world we shall know. Thank you for sharing your amazing poetry and thoughts.

I think this beautiful piece warrants, yet, another review as I contemplate the simple message of your lines, that was also shouted by my late cousin Dan Seals of England Dan & John Ford Coley: Love Is The Answer ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QZjJU-mtFU )

Once again I enter that great void of Ethernet sour faced and frowny and leave refreshed, uplifted, and inspired, if not a bit jealous ... After all, I have never been to Japan, nor shall I likely ever see such a great and haunting land ... Beautifully done dear lady ...

Must be a great place to have that country as a muse, I love japan too. Especially sushi and its poetry, although I do adore those snow monkeys in the hot spring or is it one family sized tub? Haha. Enjoyed the read. Kudos.
