A Lone WarriorA Poem by Carol Phelan Aebby "A Lone Warrior" In thoughtful solitude I am with heart steady, Armor ready ー as my soul deeply breathes ー In the atmosphere of courage and sighs...
A nightingale's trying to pull me up: "Come fly with me", she keeps singing on, "Leave this human misery." My soul answers, It's not wise, for many depend on me! How many more battles do I must face In life times of blood spill, disgrace and hate? Oh, Mother Poet, rhyme me with a poem Whose verses sing Love in stanzas of wonders!
Cherry blossoms shower my reverie With apologies of scented sweet pleas... Fuji San hides his noble face behind clouds Of colorful sunset... as my soul bows In gratitude for the beauty he beholds; And the love Japan has bestowed on me. This country flows through my blood... gently now With titanic currents of grace in my heart, As I march forth with courage and wisdom To announce that only Love is a winner! © ー Carol Phelan Aebby © 2015 Carol Phelan AebbyReviews
