Diary Entry 3

Diary Entry 3

A Chapter by CarmenT

September 1st

It was the first day of sixth grade and like I predicted I was sitting alone at lunch. At recess I sat on the steep hill at the side of the building and I watched everyone having fun with their friends. A few times a nice teacher came over and asked me questions but they were never “Are you okay? Where are your friends?” I’m pretty sure she didn’t ask that because I was so miserable about having no friends that I didn’t even realize that probably happened to other sixth graders.

The teachers I met that day were pretty nice. My social studies and language arts teacher Mrs. Vargas was pretty nice and she laughed a lot too. My science and math teacher Mrs. Peterson was nice too and she made us laugh a lot. She gave each person a candy and a piece of gum. For now, we got to sit where ever we wanted and I sat in the front next to a girl named Ella. She seemed very nice and we talked a little bit.

At the table next to me was a boy with curly golden hair. He kept glancing at me and I kept glancing at him. Across from me at the other table, was a girl with thick brown hair that just touched her shoulders. Mrs. Peterson told us to get to know the people at our table. Ella talked to me and I talked to her. We talked about our favorite colors, animals, and our birthdays. The golden hair guy and the brown haired girl talked to each other quietly. After finishing up with Ella, me and the golden hair guy just glanced at each silently like we wanted to secretly know about each other but we were both too shy.

The day turned out okay for me; although I would have liked to enjoy the day with a friend.
