Who You Could BeA Poem by Carly_RuthWe’ve several months to go Before you leave But I think about it all to often The same way the earth revolves around
the sun My thoughts come back to you As I lay awake at night Those nights where I don’t have your
warmth beside me Like the earth without the warmth of
the sun Those nights make me long for you I will stay You will go Drive away without a thought for me You’ll leave me with both horrible and
fond memories You leave without me ever telling you Telling you how I feel Because I was nothing to you You were everything to me I was the glass half full You were the glass half empty I was the eternal optimist The dreamer, the compassion in the
cruelty The light to your dark You were empty Cynical and pessimistic But I see right through you Through the distrusting scared boy The boy that you no longer are I see your light The light that goes with the warmth The passion I see in you The passion that destroys the darkness of cynicism I see your heart I see what you could be I see who you are becoming I see you pursuing passion So even as you go I thank you for your time Promise me one thing Don’t be the distrusting boy anymore Pursue your passion Become who I fell in love with Because I fell in love with the idea
of who you could be And now that is who you are. © 2014 Carly_Ruth |
