Unrequited

Unrequited

A Poem by Carly_Ruth
"

My second poem ever and my first available for anyone but myself to see.

"

You are my Achilles’ heel

The hiding place of my heart

The pain of unrequited love

That is so strongly demonstrated

In the desperation of how badly I want you.

You are the only one to completely incapacitate me

The only one to make my emotions want to be so vulnerable

A vulnerability that scares me more than any height, depth, or unknown

A vulnerability that I should never offer you

For you are unstable

Like the sudden crumbling of a sand castle

Built so carefully only to be torn down in moment’s time

By the crash of a sudden wave of selfishness

A victim to its own fragileness

A fragileness I saw in myself

I saw only as my feelings crumbled like that castle

In your unpredictable

Change of mind

You broke me

Your selfish games

Leading me on time and time again

Until I finally gave up

Like a wild animal

Who will finally shape itself to what you want it to be

I became your just for fun

So easily I give up the fight now

The fight for the treatment I deserve is long lost in the past hope of a naïve teenager

Now a women who is, after years,

Still stuck in quicksand of your unrelenting games

With the smallest hope that you will see me

See me for how much I love you

How much I would give for you

How much I would give up for you

My pride

My dignity

I would give everything for you

Author's Note

Carly_Ruth
This is my first poem that I've ever let others see and my second poem ever. I really want poetry to be something I can do well in, but I know that takes time, practice, and critiquing.

I enjoyed the raw, savage emotion that you expressed in this poem. Very powerful and relatable.
