Where Have I Gone

Where Have I Gone

A Poem by Carlfinn

Your thoughts they lay dorment after taking your pills,
The calm in your head now replaced by cheap thrills,
Escaping your demons and forgetting your worries,
The brain fog impending and beginning to flurry

Dulling those memories of your screams and your cries,
You show no emotion, no tears from your eyes,
But stumbling around in this chemical reality,
You're barely functioning, verging on insanity

The love you once felt for those around you,
Paled into obscurity yet dying to break through,
Friends they are distant and you're feeling alone,
They no longer call you or answer their phone

You’re stuck in this vortex of emotional hell,
Will it all end?, only time will tell,
So now you wait and begin to ponder,
Asking yourself if this lasts much longer ?

Then slowly you awaken from this time that stood still,
Now feeling alive and not wanting a pill,
Escaped from the clutches of your bottomless pit,
Your heart is now beating now the fire has been lit
