The demons of war

The demons of war

A Poem by Carlfinn

The boy had left his beloved homeland,
And went off to fight in the hot desert sand,

Machine guns barking day and night,
This boy's excitement now turning to fright

Days on end in the blistering sun ,
Wondering if the battle would ever be won,

Losing his pals to the demon called war ,
Now all he strived for was to settle the score

Years have now passed since those dark days ,
His memories now becoming more of a haze

Though that ghost of war still torments his soul,
The boy now stuck in his own hell hole
