A Chapter by Carl Phantom

I don't remember... Anything.  Where am I?  Who am I running from?  Why am I in pain?
I don't know but I continue to run through the thicket forest.  Branches and bushes nip at my legs, arms and face.  I don't know where I am running to, but I have a feeling that if I stop i might die. My heart raced.  I tripped on a root and fell.  Already in pain, i felt more.  I got up as soon as my body hit the ground. My legs and heart raced even faster.
I finally got out of the traps of trees.  Up ahead I saw a tall white building. Night covered the white beauty of the place, making it gray. I heard of dogs and human voices behind me, so I ran to the building.  I ran till I saw a window close to the ground.  It was closed, but I didn't have enough time to find another entry way, and they were gaining on me.
I used the rest of my energy I had to run and jump.  Before I crashed through the window, i pulled up my bloody bandaged arms to my face, by my eyes.  I pulled up my bloody bandaged legs to my chest. As I smashed through the window I recieved a big cut on my already bruised and bloody right  ankle.
I fell to ground on a red rug.  All I could hear  was a thud of glass, myself, and the crackle of flames.
I tried to get up but my bones gave out. I looked up from the ground, some of my black hair already blocking my blurred vision.  Besides from the red rug, I saw a fireplace with inside it, fire.  I saw brown shoes inching toward me from the right.
Instantly thought of it as a threat, and struggled for strength in my arms.  I gained little stamina, but I pushed my self up from the ground, to my feet. My I wobbled from the injure of my ankle. My eyes  continued to blurred. I quickly looked around, the person coming toward me was taller than me, he was wearing a suit.  I think it was a man.  He was just about to grab my shoulder. i slapped his hand away, with i right arm.  Also moving the hair out of my eyes.  As soon as I slapped him away, I saw another person run into the room.  This one looked like a man aswell.  He was wearing jeans and a white shirt.
The man came across the room, and I was ready to sprint to the door at the other side of the room. The suited man who backed away from my hit, held out his arm, and said something.  I couldn't hear what he said though, every sound was muffled to me. The in the White stopped and said something back.
I took this as my chance and ran for it.  But I forgot about my right foot, and instantly fell to the ground.  The impact knocking me to dreamland.
All I saw was darkness, and all I could hear was a muffled voice from a man.  I sounded fimiliar to the suited man.  Suddenly I felt like a couldn't breath.  My eyes opened, as I gasped for air, but no sound came from my mouth.  I saw, white?
I realised that I was laying down.  I tried to sit up or move.  But  I didn't have enough energy and was in pain.  A man's face came  into my view.  He had brown curly hair.  He eyebrows were kinda thin and rounded.  He had a carefree smile. He looked so freindly, besides from his strange 2 different colored eyes.  His left was Green, his other was a red.  He looked maybe in his 20's.
He started to speak.  "Would you look at that shes awake! My name is Ryan.  I work at a library to broke into."
I opened my mouth to respond, but nothing came out.
Ryan noticed and decided the continue talking. "So I met a few wealthy people this morning.  They knocked on my door saying that there looking for you."
My eyes widened. I am just some random stranger.  Hes going to turn me in to them.
"They are still here, I told them I would be right back and that i need to use the men's room." His smile changed a little, it looked like a smirk. He continued "I wanted to ask you a yes-or-no question.  If you promised to work with me in my library, I won't tell them.  If you say yes, that means you will also live with me, but I have rules.  One: You can never leave without telling me. Two: You will have to act like you are related to me. Thre-"
I rolled my eyes and nodded painfully... Anything is better than going back.
Ryan again noticed and realised he was rambling. "Okay well then, I will be right back. Hey Zackie! She said yes!" His head turned left.
I couldn't turn my head, but I heard his response.  "Great... another misfit.  You need to stop giving them a choice and just give up on them." He sounded slightly angry.
Ryan laughed as if Zackie said a joke, and walked away. A few seconds later I heard a door open and close.
A new face apeared.  This new face happens to be a child who crawled atop of me.  It was a little boy with blonde hair and happy green eyes.  He had a few freckles among his nose and his face was round.  He was cute.  But Because he is on top of my legs they started to hurt.
The little boys voice was filled with excitement. "YAY!!! I have a new sister!!"
Sister? I don't think I have a little brother. I tried to see if I could remember anything, but I just felt more pain.
I heard Zackies voice again. "Alex get off of her.  She is hurt and besides you shouldn't get to close to her anyway."
Alex responded sadly. "Aww... can't we keep her?" He slide off of me.
"She's not a pet, shes human. She only said yes because she didn't want to go with those people."
Sad, but true. That was in fact, the whole point I said yes.
The little child left my vision. A moment later I heard the door open and close again.  Another mans face popped into my vision.  He had black messy hair, bushy eyebrows, and his eyes looked so odd.  They were both brown with a slight shade of orange. He did not look happy.
He opened his mouth to speak. It sounded like Zackie. "I have a few rules, one is: don't ever talk to me unless its something important or someone needs me." He looked at me as if expecting an answer. I nodded. He continued. "Two: Never come into my room, if i'm inside and you need to speak to me, knock, I will open my door and listen. Three: Don't ever touch Alex or I will find you."  I nodded. After that he took his leave. I heard the door open and close.
It was perfect timing, I ran out of my energy and passed out into darkness.
When I woke again I saw Ryans face staring back at me. He was smiling, this time wearing a gray suit.  He started to speak. "I honestly don't know how you are alive.  When you crashed through the window you received more pain on your already strained and bandaged body.  Besides from that, the bandages were both new and old, making you live in pain.  Long story short l would like to check your arms and legs to figure out why there covered in old cloth. Do you mind if I do so?"
I nodded. I don't want anyone to look at me. I don't know, Its kinda like one of the feelings you get.
"Fine, I won't check your arms and legs. I checked your foot earlier, it should be okay after a few more days. Can you sit up?"
I slowly sat up, my upper part of my body was in pain but it was more bearable than yesterday.
"Thata girl! can you speak?"
I opened my mouth to say yes, but I ended up shaking my head.
"Well, at least that's better than yesterday.  Do you remember your name?'
I shook my head no.
"Alright until you get your voice back, I shall call you corpse since you sleep like one." Ryan gave a friendly laugh. "Alright, I'll be right back."
I watched Ryan walk through the dark brown door into the other room.  He left the door open. past that door seem to be a large room.  In that room, I saw some bookcases, they were filled with books.
A second later I heard some voices from what sounded like little kids, I couldn't quite hear what they were saying. A little girl with Blond hair walked through the door.   She looked so shy and had blue eyes. She was wearing a purple dress with a toy pink tiara on her head. She wasn't wearing shoes. She walked up to me and looked at my face, then she ran back past the door. I heard a voice from what might have been the girl say. "She really dose look dead."  She said it like she was curious.
I wondered if I did look dead.  I don't remember what my face looked like, so I couldn't be sure.  It wasn't long until Ryan waltzed back in carrying a neatly folded stack of black cloth and jeans.
