Splinters

Splinters

A Poem by Carl

Splinters

The things we find

Fragments of life

We leave behind

Respect and value

Things that we give

As each day

We try to live

Splinters

The things we show

As in all things

We try to grow

In wisdom and love

Learning to forgive

As each day

We try to live

Splinters

The things we keep

That makes us laugh

And makes us weep

The broken and lonely

Who call us to give

As each day

We try to live

Splinters

The things that are seen

As inquisitive minds

Inspire and dream

"Hold your head up

You've so much to give"

As each day

You try to live

Splinters

The things that cause pain

As we make this vow

Not to go there again

Addictions and vices

The chains that won't give

As each day

We try to live

Splinters

The things that will break

As we're moulded and crafted

Despite the mistakes that we make

We are made in his likeness

With so much to give

As each day

We try to live

Splinters

What others may glean

A vision a story

A poem or dream

A legacy a lesson

That we can give

As every day

We all try to live
