Cover Your EyesA Poem by CarlCover your eyes From what we have done We've blackened sea And blocked out the sun We've amassed a great debt That we know we can't pay You don't want To be us today
Cover your eyes From what you see The child in the playground Could be you or me Holding back tears Stung by what they say You don't want To be us today
Cover your eyes For the damage is vast Tearing down trees So the forest won't last And the forest lies screaming As we pave the way You don't want To be us today
Cover your eyes As the blood starts to run What in Gods name Have we begun Restoring the peace By taking freedom away You don't want To be us today
Cover your eyes For it makes you think Not enough food And no water to drink The perice of survival Is too much to pay You don't want To be us today
Cover your eyes A lump in your throat As with an arrogant swagger We start to quote All our achievments What more can we say You don't want To be us today
Cover your eyes When the end has come And we're asked this question "What have you done"? Famine World Wars Tainted History As we covered our eyes And failed to see © 2010 CarlReviews
