Will We Ever

Will We Ever

A Poem by Carl

Will we ever see a Nation change

I believe that we will

Will we ever see the future written

I believe it's written still

Will we ever end disease

As mankind dies with each degree

Will we ever be the people

That we were meant to be

Will we ever lay our weapons down

In the hope that there is peace

Will we ever raise our voice

In the hope that wars would cease

Will we ever be so brave

As to embrace our enemy

Will we ever be the people

That we were meant to be

Will we ever comfort the weak

So that they can feel strong

Will we ever call to the lost

There is a place to belong

Will we ever put a stop to racism

So that all men can live free

Will we ever be the people

That we were meant to be

Will we ever realize

That our words carry weight

Words can build a future

Or leave a person in a state

Will we ever change our language

To show respect and dignity

Will we ever be the people

That we were meant to be

Will we ever cut emissions

As gasses pollute the sky

Will we ever stop and listen

And hear the planet cry

Will we ever stop and think

For the sake of humanity

Will we ever be the people

That we were meant to be

Will we ever take that time

To reflect on what we've done

Will we ever change this world

For the generation to come

Will we say "We did our best"

As we leave our legacy

Were we ever truly the people

That we were meant to be

Will we? I hope so or there is no hope.. this is a poem that addresses so many of humankinds
weaknesses and in so many cases, ignornace and apathy.. you would have been one heck of an advocate in the sixties.. and are now .. it is sad not more are of the same thought to make a stand , to make a change..
Got Tupac's Changes in my head now .. what a wonderful read.. thank you!

The answer to all the above.... Yes..... Maybe not as "human" but as a spirit. We will one day be granted a place of serenity where the evil no longer lies. We will see all those whom we love.

Voices go unheard if they speak truth. It's as if the people are so used to lifestyles and politics. Both being things that have no worth to us in the end.

We want to be able to leave existence possible to our upcoming generations. We want there to remain a sense of hope that the earth will withstand what her "children" have done to her. Millions of years she's been evolving.... and in one millennium, we've managed to nearly destroy her.

All we can do is remain brave as you have clearly done here. Brave to overcome what the flesh wants us to be. Brave to create change through love rather than fashion.

What happens when 2 stand together? It becomes four... then sixteen....

The Fibonacci code comes to life.... and the truth is unveiled.

Awesome Carl.....

Wow.. such passionate questions that many do ask themselves especially in these harsh and uncertain times.. love the honesty.. you touched on many great issues we deal with which I applaud you for.. great flow and overall it raises the questions of just what were we meant to be... what is our truest destiny? Going to favorites as this one is what I feel full of topics of great importance that relate to today.. thank you for sharing! =)
