East of the river a heartbeat quickens

East of the river a shinning light

East of the river tones stand together

East of the river nations unite

East of the river the fighting's over

East of the river hope is found

East of the river dreams are realized

East of the river guns put to the ground

 

East of the river Rhythm she moves us

East of the river the beat is strong

East of the river Destiny calls us

East of the river come along

East of the river chains are broken

East of the river all men are free

East of the river times are changing

East of the river see what I see

 

East of the river a new generation

East of the river a momentous task

East of the river they're writing the future

East of the river repairing the past

East of the river all men are equal

East of the river they've made a stand

East of the river a new day's coming

East of the river their time is at hand

 

East of the river it speaks of renewal

East of the river a change will come

East of the river when all work together

East of the river so much can be done

East of the river a fire is burning

East of the river a passionate flame

East of the river a desire for change

East of the river won't be the same

 

East of the river they've planted a seed

East of the river they're watching it grow

East of the river poets are dreaming

East of the river is where brave people go

East of the river they're changing a nation

East of the river for the whole world to see

East of the river I'm standing there with you

--loved these two lines...

I'm not sure how I stumbled upon this piece, but there was something about it that really touched me. There was an uplifting and yet tragic sense about it that completely drew me in. While I'm not usually one for repetitions, this time is worked magically...wow...
