Now

Now

A Poem by Carl

Now its me against you
This is what we've come to
Standing here
With tears in our eyes
We've Sunday heartbreaks
Over cake and milkshakes
Tired out
From all of the tries

Now I am home alone
All we have known
Staring at the phone
In the night
I have lonely days
In the parting of the ways
In the end who pays
For this fight

Now I have kids in tow
They must never know
In the traffic flow
I am strong
I have words of advice
Contrite and concise
Well isn't that nice
They are wrong

Now my hopes and dreams
Are in sessions and themes
And a counsellor tells me
I'm fine
I've all that entails
With quick bitten finger nails
As I continue to walk
A fine line

Now its you against me
In a bid to be free
And being brutally honest
I'm done
So don't stand and stare
Talk of heal and repair
When the love isn't there
Whose won

Now with love and such graces
Kids with smiles on their faces
We're building a future
Somehow
And years down the track
Wont be needing you back
For I'm living my best life
Now
