Remember Those Days???

Remember Those Days???

A Poem by Careless Dreamer

Getting up in your pajamas on Saturday morning watching cartoons.

Going outside with your friends playing games such as kick the can,

red light, green light and hide and seek.

Those hot summer days when people used to turn on the fir ehydrant,

open a tin can on both ends to shoot water into the air.

Rolling deep with your friends going to the summer lunch program.

Dunking your friends at the public pool.

The sound of the ice cream truck from a block away. Begging your

momma for some change so you can get a Bomb Pop.

Quarter waters and sunflower seeds.

Getting ready for the first day of school the night before, ready to

show off your new gear.

Believing that everytime you got a new pair of kicks, you ran faster and

jumped higher.

I remember sitting at my stereo with a blank tape with the deck on pause and record,

waiting for my favorite jam to play on the radio and hoped it played all the way through.

I remember when you didn't need game to get a girlfriend. All you need to do is write a

note asking if you liked me? Mark an "X" on either yes or no.

I miss the days when 2 friends can have a fight and an hour later, play with each other again

as if nothing ever happened.

Going to the penny candy store and buying a pack of Now and Laters and all sorts of

sweets and being the most popular person of the day because you had the most candy.

I miss those days.

That was the age of innocence!!! I'd give anything to just go back in time and re-live those days

once again.....
