Vicious Cycle

Vicious Cycle

A Poem by MyNameIs
"

Inspired by something I saw while scrolling through Pinterest. It's the relationship between a King, God, and the people.

"
They say, "Power to the people!"
But what's people to a king?
A bunch of commoners, like little ants
to a royal wealth machine
Basking in the glory
of his false presence at the start
To hide the pain he feels within
the confines of his heart
Slouching on a throne of souls
to maintain his facade
'Cause even the greediest of the wealthy know
A king is nothing to a God
Omnipotent power beyond glorious measure
with eyes that can see all
The unfair rule the King bestows
is known, but not acted on
Controlling the world's balance
making nothing fall apart
reluctantly allowing mischief
to pierce our ant-like hearts
But in the world, even God can see
what's he to a non-believer?
He tells himself she's merely just
A pessimistic deceiver
But in truth the little servant girl
gave up long ago
at praying on her hopes and dreams
She eventually let them go
The King requests her presence
a meal made of greed
the girl full-heartedly believing
it's her who's been deceived
So she'll march on
and he will rule
and God will watch it all
Not knowing if maybe
one of them changed
the vicious cycle would be gone
