Moon and SunA Poem by Careline
He was
the Sun And now, I am the Moon He was the one Who basked In the light And I am the one Shrouded in darkness, Hiding. Hiding from the Light, Hiding from Him And I tell them, “The Moon only reflects the light it’s given. The Moon sheds no light of it’s own.” In short, I am not the hero I pretend to be. And yet, they still Look up And adore me. - I was one of the people Who walked around In the daytime And smiled at the Sun. But I was also the one Who relentlessly Searched For the Moon In daytime. I was one of the people Who used to shine Or maybe, perhaps I never did. Maybe I was meant To dwell in the dark, And it feels like A warm, thick blanket Covering me. But shine the Light on me And the comforting image Cracks. You can find me Crying In the Light You can see me Clearly In the light You can chase me Running In the light I’ll scramble to the dark And before I leave I’ll murmur, “Don’t find me” But he always claims, I am the one bright spot In the night. © 2014 CarelineReviews
