Insanity Personified

Insanity Personified

A Poem by Carbon Muse
"

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." ~ Albert Einstein

"

Like a moth to the fire, to its funeral pyre,

I can't help but singe my wings.

Climbing the spire, higher and higher,

I stay blind to the pain that it brings.

Come heaven come hell, I still couldn’t tell,

with wings, tattered and torn.

My dreams hold me prisoner, under their spell,

as I fall to the ground forlorn.

If it’s madness you seek, visit my hell,

don some gossamer wings.

Step through the portal and ring the bell,

and listen to the sirens song it sings.

Interesting outtake on insanity. I feel this perfectly conveys Einstein's quote and your own personal outtake on it. I love your chilling control over words, and the rhyme you add in makes the poem flow well whilst contrasting to those non-rhyming words. Overall great price, you make me want to fall of the bandwagon myself!
