In the Shadows

In the Shadows

A Poem by Caradoc
"

Always those things, to us, forbidden, do we desire...

"

Love me In the Shadows
Away from the bright light of day
Where secrets are kept
And lonely lovers stray

Seek me in the darkness
In the autumn midnight, cool
When virtue lies to sleep
And dark desires rule

Crave me in your dreams
Beyond all kings and fools
Where fantasies are real
And all Else is true

Love me In the Shadows
Away from the judging light of day
Where sins are held in silence
And yearning lovers lay...

Sorry, but I didn't like it. When one starts with a line such as 'Love me In the Shadows', that ended with a trochee, so from the beginning the mind of the reader take it as a falling metre, which is on upbeat, but here the quartet was goethe. The rhythmic pattern was not well constructed.
Pushing it out of league is always allowed, but metres and musicality needed to be there in this particular case. Everything is allowed in poetry, but it has to be complete in itself.
Push yourself, but in a way that it still attracts the reader.
