Leaching Vines and Violent Times

Leaching Vines and Violent Times

A Poem by Caradoc
"

Ill timed indeed...

"

Leaching Vines and Violent Times
Upheavals of the heart
Hidden truths and secrets loosed
Who can know;
Where did it start?

Duty and Desire
Lust and love
Entwined, combined
Two flames determined
To burn each other out

Honor holds to vows once made
While fear and selfish ire
Harry and harass;
The light is delayed

And who can tell how the story ends?
For the weary Knight in armor black
Tarnished by the weight of years
Bears a wounded heart and scorched wings;
Ever pulled toward diverging paths
What of the Queen whose roses bloom,
Red as blood beneath the Moon?
Or that midnight sphere's face all covered in gloom,
Eclipsed by the shine and shade of mourning sun?

What of their hearts, their devotion,
To the hurricane forces, which though divergent
Are in name the same?

Who can tell how the story ends?
These Leaching Vines and Violent Times
Strangle Knight, Queen, and Goddess alike
Threatening kingdoms and oaths from long ago
Who can say how this tale ends?
For even the Poet Prince
Can find neither reason nor rhyme
In the string of events
Ill timed and verging on
Crime...
