Black Roses Blooming

Black Roses Blooming

A Poem by Caradoc
"

The roots run dark and deep.

"

Beauty in the eyes
Tints of sadness
Faraway
Mahogany and sunlight
Twined with crimson flame

Salt stained lips and
Words unspoken
Agonized
Torn heart sheltering
'Neath a steel disguise

Barriers shattered
In the dying sun
Blood red flowers
In sleep tossed hair
The starlight fades to gray
From Poison in the soul
And the gentle weeping
Of a loving heart betrayed

Ice ignites a pyre
Setting the horizon ablaze
Sorrow chokes
And coughing despair
Dark sights looming
The Knight was not prepared
Love lies bleeding
And dancing in the air
Wind swept petals
Of sweet and bitter hue
And no one other knew

Knights in shining armor
Don't always save the day
Steel ever rusts
And flowers wither away
Darkness comes intruding
It chases out the light
And sinks into the soil
Deep; to feed with
Blood and pain and fear
The tangled roots of
Black Roses Blooming
