Some things, it would seem, do not fade with time. They linger, some like ghosts of memories best forgotten. Others, like ruins of ancient places waiting to be rediscovered and granted new life.

This is beautiful. Shame on the people who take the time to read an outstanding poem such as this and do not take the time to comment. The emotions are shiny -- brilliant, like tears at the corners of your eyes you didn't know were coming but came anyway ... HEY YOU, OUT THERE, in the feed, take the time to read this piece and comment.

Yay! I am so happy I have gotten people to visit this talented writer.
This provides a beautiful image, I like your word use a lot. You've created a short, simple but deep poem. I can relate to the feelings woven into your words, thoughtful and hurting decorated with a lovable kind of darkness.
KL told me i should come and read ..glad i took her advice ..your poem is a bouquet in just a leaf .. minimalism is bountiful when done just so ..i think this poem does all that and more .. the theme is everlasting and universal and can be too well worn ..but "Wither" is all brand new ... thanks for sharing ..

Awww, well the fairy tale romantic heart of mine immediately think of beauty and the beast, the Rose.
Except for the Rose does wilt, just very very very very slowly. As do all things eventually if not nurtured properly. This is a lovely poem, so glad KL sent me here.

You're welcome. If they like Disney princesses they might. :)
I have a "flower" like that, mine though more memory that should fade but doesn't... isn't also ironic that the other flowers fade far to quickly while this one remains as fresh as a Black Rose.. hopefully your flower is one that should be granted new life and blooms colorfully in your garden...
KL often writes from ideas in your poems, using you and your words as reference points, I can understand why... your poetry has a sharp metaphorical edge and a layered texture... thank you
